High Commission of India in Dhaka and Indian Council of Cultural Relations in association with Dhaka Club
present Baul Sangeet and Folk Dances by Sri Aurobindo Anusilan Society from Kolkata India.
(16th May 09 – 2030 hrs at Dhaka Club)
Baul in West Bengal as well as in Bangladesh is a unique art form of its kind. It is both a music as well as a way of lifestyle. In the most simple and lucid languages Baul songs are a narration of the quest of the inner soul – the quest of the universal soul which exist in both narrated and unrevealed form.
The Folk dance reveals the vibrant cultural life of the peasants, labourers, boatmen of remote villages.
Lyrics written by Dr. J Banerjee and composed by Ms. Nibedita Lahiri and Mr. Dakhina Ranjan Bhattacharjee and choreographed by Anushri, Tanushri, Anindita, Sayani, Beauty, Tania, Chumki. Actors like Mr. Maytab Hossain of Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, Mr. Ranojoy Bandyopadhyay, Mr. Bidyapati Chakraborti, Anup Khandajit etc. has participated in the play.
