February 4, 2011- “Nazrul Geeti” by Mrs. Yasmin Mushtary at 6:30PM at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre
 
Indira Gandhi Culture Centre, High Commission of India, Dhaka is organising an Evening of “Nazrul Geeti” by Mrs. Yasmin Mushtari at 6:30 PM on February 4, 2011 at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, H.No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1.

Yasmin Mushtari grew up in an atmosphere of literature, poetry & music. Her father, Mr. Talim Hussain, was an eminent poet & journalist and founder of the Bangladesh Nazrul Academy and her mother, Mrs. Mafruha Chowdhury, was a journalist and short story writer.

Yasmin’s formal training in music started at the early age of six in the Nazrul Academy where she was awarded a Gold Medal. She has performed in the Bangladesh Radio & Television since the age of twelve. Her performance in “Natun Kuri” was highly acclaimed. She has received several awards for her outstanding contributions to Nazrul Geeti, the most recent being the Citycell Channel I, Best Singer Award in Nazrul Sangeet in 2006.

Yasmin was attracted to Ustad Mehedi Hasan’s Ghazals and rendered his Ghazals during his visit to Bangladesh, in 1986. Mehedi Hasan ceremoniously adopted her as his Sagred and provided her training and guidance.
