03 July, 2012 - Joint Celebrations of the 90th Anniversary of the publication of the poem, “Bidrohi” by Kazi Nazrul Islam between India and Bangladesh in India

On the occasion of the joint celebrations of the 90th Anniversary of the publication of the legendary poem, “Bidrohi”, by Kazi Nazrul Islam between India and Bangladesh, the Hon’ble Finance Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. A.M.A. Muhith, will lead a 21-member Bangladesh delegation to Kolkata and Burdwan in India from July 4-6, 2012.

The joint Nazrul celebrations will be inaugurated jointly by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal of the Government of India, H.E. Mr. Sriprakash Jaiswal, as the Chief Guest and the Hon’ble Finance Minister of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. A.M.A. Muhith, as the Guest of Honor at Kolkata on July 4, 2012. The joint celebrations will be organised in Kolkata from July 4-5, 2012 and subsequently in Burdwan, close to Kazi Nazrul Islam’s birth place at Churulia, on July 6, 2012.

The forthcoming 3-day Nazrul joint celebrations in India will have participation of cultural and literary personnel from both India and Bangladesh. Bangladesh will be represented by Ms. Khilkhil Kazi, the grand daughter of Kazi Nazrul Islam, who would present the Memorial Speech, while noted Nazrul Geeti exponents of Bangladesh, Ms. Fatema Tuz Zohra, Mr. Salauddin Ahmed and Ms. Chhanda Chakraborty will present their performances. Ms. Jharna Sarker will recite Nazrul poems while Dr. Md. Nurul Huda would participate in Lecture-cum-interactive sessions. A 10-member Bangladesh dance group led by Mr. Kabirul Islam Ratan would present a dance performance based on the poem, “Bidrohi” for the celebrations. Dr. Anup Ghoshal, Ms. Maitreyee Mazumdar, Ms. Chandrabali Rudra, Prof. Miratun Nahar and others would represent India in the forthcoming joint Nazrul celebrations at Kolkata and Burdwan.

The joint celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the publication of “Bidrohi” by Kazi Nazrul Islam between India and Bangladesh was earlier held in Dhaka from May 25-26, 2012.
