To further deepen economic and investment relations and strengthen trade and business ties between India and Bangladesh, a high-level CEOs Mission led by Mr Adi Godrej, President, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and Chairman, Godrej group, is visiting Dhaka from 20 to 22 July 2012. The CII-CEOs Mission includes some of the most prominent names in Indian industry and has representation from a wide-range of sectors such as Agri-Business, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration, Automobiles, Education, FMCG, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Power and Tyres.
It may be recalled that a CII-delegation met H. E. Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, in Tripura earlier this year. The CII-CEOs Mission is follow-up of the meeting and will endeavour to take the initiatives forward. An intensive visit programme spread over two days has been drawn up and includes interaction with the Government and business community of Bangladesh at the highest level.
Delegates on the CII President-led Mission include Mr Shekhar Datta, Past President and Chairman, CII Bangladesh Committee, Mr Antony Lobo, Special Director-International Operations, Ashok Leyland, Mr Suneel M Advani, Executive Vice Chairman, Blue Star Ltd., Mr Rajiv Kumar Jain, CEO - Bangladesh Project, CEAT Limited, Mr Vinayak Chatterjee, Chairman, CII Urbanisation and Future Cities Council & Chairman, Feedback Infrastructure Services (P) Ltd., Ms Rumjhum Chatterjee, Managing Director, Feedback Infrastructure Services (P) Ltd., Mr M K Jalan, Chairman, Keventer Agro Ltd., Mr Ajai Lal, Chief Business Officer - Individual Learning Solutions – IT ( International), NIIT Limited, Mr Syamal Gupta, Special Advisor, Tata International Ltd., Mr M S Unnikrishnan, Managing Director , Thermax Limited, Mr Rakesh Sharma, President (International Business), Bajaj Auto Ltd, Mr Shubh Shrivastava, Chief of Global Business Development, TATA Power, and Mr Ajay Bakshi, CEO, Max Healthcare.
It is expected that the meetings will provide an opportunity to identify potential areas of growth, enabling policy measures to achieve the objectives, and challenges that need to be addressed for optimizing economic relations, investment, trade and business-to-business relationships between the two countries. India is looking forward to increase the bi-lateral engagement that will further facilitate this process. This visit by the CII-CEOs delegation will provide a useful platform for key stakeholders to better understand the business opportunities that exist in both India and Bangladesh.
