Minister of Rural Development, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India Mr. Jairam Ramesh to visit Bangladesh (August 4-6, 2012)
 
Minister of Rural Development, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India Mr. Jairam Ramesh is scheduled to visit Bangladesh from August 4-6, 2012 at the invitation of the Government of Bangladesh to participate in the International Conference on People’s Empowerment and Development.

Mr. Jairam Ramesh will address the inaugural session at the Conference. He will also participate in the Working Session on “Creating Jobs for All”.

Mr. Jairam Ramesh was educated at IIT-Bombay, Carnegie Mellon University and MIT. He has held important positions in the Government of India including that of Minister of State for Commerce; Minister of State for Power; and Minister of Environment and Forests. He is a member of the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh.

During his stay in Dhaka, Mr. Jairam Ramesh is expected to call on various Bangladeshi dignitaries.

Mr. Jairam Ramesh had earlier visited Dhaka in 2007 as Minister of State for Commerce. His forthcoming visit follows the visits earlier this year of Minister of State for Defence, Mr. M. M. Pallam Raju in March 2012, India’s former Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee in May 2012, Minister of Law and Justice and Minority Affairs Mr. Salman Khurshid in May 2012 and former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam in July 2012. Mr. Jairam Ramesh’s visit will give a further impetus to the existing excellent bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh.
