May 15, 2010 - Bust of Rabindranath Tagore unveiled at Tagore Lodge, Kushtia |

Government of India has donated a bust of Rabindranth Tagore, made by famous Indian sculptor Gautam Pal, to Kushtia Municipality. The bust was unveiled at a ceremony on May 15, 2010 by Hon’ble Minister of Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Abul Kalam Azad and the High Commissioner of India H.E. Mr. Rajeet Mitter at Tagore Lodge in Kushtia. The Mayor of Kushtia Mr. Anwer Ali was also present on the occasion.
2. The High Commissioner of India also gifted over fifty books on life and works of Tagore to the Mayor for the library at Tagore Lodge. A set of musical instruments, including Tabla, Violin and Santoor were presented for teaching of Rabindra Sangeet and music at the Lodge.
3. These initiatives are in keeping with commitment of the Government of India to further strengthen close and friendly relations with Bangladesh based upon common bonds of culture and heritage between the people of the two countries.
