January 10, 2011 - Joint Press Release after Water Resources Secretary Level Meeting between India and Bangladesh in Dhaka
 
The Water Resources Secretary level meeting between India and Bangladesh was held in Dhaka on January 10, 2011. H.E. Mr. Dhruv Vijay Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources of Government of Republic of India led the Indian side and the Bangladesh side was led by H.E. Mr. Shaikh Md. Wahid-uz-Zaman, Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources of Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The Water Resources Secretary of India called on Minister for Water Resources H.E. Mr. Ramesh Chandra Sen and Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Dipu Moni.

The meeting of Water Resources Secretaries held comprehensive discussions on issues pertaining to sharing arrangements of dry season water flows of Teesta and Feni rivers as mandated by the Joint Rivers Commission in March, 2010. The two sides removed differences and improved understanding towards framework of an agreement. The two sides also discussed to formulate a work plan on sharing of waters of other common rivers viz: Dharla, Dudhkumar, Manu, Khowai, Gumti and Muhuri between India and Bangladesh

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of great warmth, understanding and cordiality.
