I. Types
of Visa:
Following are the visas which can be applied for visit to India –
· Short-term Single/Double entry Journey Visa:
This type of visa is to be used within one
month of its issue for tourism, medical treatment, to meet relatives in
India, etc. Tourist visas are non-extendable and non-convertible and normally
not granted within a period of one month from the last visit. Frequent
visitors are advised to apply for double entry visas for a period of upto
ninety days with proper documented justification.
· Long-term Multiple
Visa: Visas valid for six months to one year,
with multiple entry, are available for applicants such as professionals,
work-permit holders, investors, businessmen, research scholars, fellows
working in educational and research institutions and applicants undergoing
long term medical treatment in India on fulfillment of relevant requirements.
· Transit Single
Entry Visa: Bangladesh nationals, transiting
through India by land, river or air routes to a third country, are required
to have a transit visa subject to production of one way confirmed air/bus
ticket and valid visa for the third country.
· Transit Double
Entry Visa: Bangladesh nationals intending to
visit a third country through India by air / road will be issued a double
entry visa for a stay upto a maximum of seven days on each occasion subject
to production of two way confirmed air / bus ticket and valid visa for
the third country.
II. Documents required: Please submit
along with the application form:-
a. Passport, in original, with minimum validity of six months and with
at least two blank pages.
b. Two identical passport-size photographs depicting full face.
III. Supporting Documents:
In addition, supporting documents, in original
along with one set of photocopies attested by the applicant, are required
for the following purposes of visits:
-
i . Medical treatment in India:
§ Original
medical papers indicating appointment and treatment
§ foreign exchange
endorsement of US$150/-.
In case of hospitalization
or long term treatment, proof of financial resources to pay may be sought.
§ Bank statement
for 6 months
§ Solvency certificate
from Bank.
ii. Business:
§
Name, address and contact numbers of applicant’s business establishments
in Bangladesh
§ A letter from the sponsoring
organization/company from India, and
§ A letter of recommendation
from a recognized business chamber
§ A copy of the Letter of Credit
pertaining either to the last business transaction or the impending business
transaction with an Indian company
iii. Tourist:
§ Foreign Exchange endorsement
for US$ 150/- per person from a recognized authorised dealer(Scheduled
Bank) or Bank Statement (3 months)
§ proof of confirmed hotel bookings
in India
§ proof of residence in
Bangladesh such as electricity or water or telephone bills in original
§ photocopy of the passport.
iv. Journalists / Artists:
§ Invitation letter from host
organization in India as well as details of places to be visited in India
must be clearly indicated along with schedule of visit.
v. Students:
§
Evidence of admission to the Institute/Course from recognized University
/ Board.
§ Bonafide certificate as a student
if already pursuing studies in India.
§ A guarantee from parents/guardian,
through the authorized Bank to the effect that he/she has enough financial
resources to support your studies in India and the Bank will remit
on behalf of parents/guardian, the required foreign exchange.
§ Photocopies of relevant academic
certificates on the basis of which admission is sought or has been obtained.
vi. Research:
§ Approval of Ministry of Human
Resources Development (Department of Education), Government of India (The
validity of the visa will coincide with the research period.)
vii. Conference:
§ A letter of invitation from
the organizer of the conference.
§ Application forms should be
submitted with at least two weeks notice.
IV. There
are certain restricted / protected areas in India for which in addition
to visa a special permit is required in order to visit those places. Please
contact the India Visa Application Centre for further advice.
V. Land Route Endorsement:
Bangladeshi Nationals travelling to India by Land Route are normally required
to use the same check-post for entry and exit. In case different
check posts are required for entry and exit, reason must be mentioned
in the application.
VI. Diplomatic and Official
Passports: Visa free regime is agreed on reciprocal
basis for holders of Diplomatic Passports for a maximum of 30 days stay.
Holders of official Passports will be granted visas in accordance with
the International Convention and Practices.
VII. The
requisite form with required documents may be submitted at the India Visa
Application Centre at the following address:

VIII. A non-refundable
service charge will be realized from applicant by the India Visa Application
Centre run by the State Bank of India. The timings are 0800 hrs to 1400
hrs for depositing and 1600 hrs to 1800 hrs for collection of passports.
The centre is open on all working days from Sunday to Thursday except
holidays.
Conditions for entry
into India
(Please read this section carefully)
a) Your visa application is liable
to be rejected if you
i). Suffer from dangerous disease, such as, tuberculosis and AIDS.
ii). Suffer from mental illness.
iii). Are addicted to or have trafficked in narcotics.
iv) Have been convicted for or have criminal charges outstanding in any
country. v) Have been deported or expelled from any county.
b) i) Even if you
hold a valid entry clearance you can still be refused entry into India
by the Immigration officer, if he is satisfied that:
a ) Your entry clearance was obtained
by false representation or by concealment of relevant facts, whether or
not you were aware of that fact.
b ) A change in circumstances between' the date of your application and
your arrival in India it validates your entry clearance; or refusal is
justified on the ground of' restricted returnability, medical. grounds,
criminal record, because you are subject to a deportation order; your
exclusion would be conductive to the public good.
ii) An immigration officer can ask anyone to be medically examined on
arrival in India, if he considers necessary. If you intend to stay in
India longer than' six months you could be required to have a medical
examination before your entry clearance is issued.
iii) You must not undertake employment or formal study/research in India
unless granted employment or student visa.
iv) You must leave India by the end of the authorized period of stay unless
extended by appropriate authority.
v) There may be other conditions, depending on the purpose of your visit.
