H.E. Mr. Rajeet Mitter
High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh

 

Mr Rajeet Mitter joined Indian Foreign Service in 1977.

He has served both at Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi and Indian Missions abroad, including Baghdad, London, and Belgrade.

At headquarters, he has served as Joint Secretary (Gulf & Haj) in Ministry of External Affairs. In addition, he has served in the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Finance, and as Joint Secretary (Trade Policy) in the Department of Commerce.

He was Deputy High Commissioner of India to Singapore from 1995 to 1998. He served as High Commissioner of India to Bostwana from 1998 to 2002, and later Ambassador of India to Philippines from 2006 to 2009. He arrived in Dhaka on December 26, 2009.

Born in 1951 in Kolkata, Mr Mitter was educated at Presidency College, Kolkata and Jesus College, Cambridge and is a postgraduate in History. He speaks Hindi, Bengali, and English.

He is married to Mrs Kavita Mitter. They have a son, Ashish and a daughter, Radhika.
