Organisation of cultural programmes of Bangladeshi artists in India

The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre on behalf of the Government of India also sponsors participation of Bangladeshi artists in programmes organised by the Government of India in India. In recent times, noted Bangladeshi Nazrul Geeti exponent, Mrs. Ferdous Ara visited New Delhi and Kolkata for performances organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Dr. Nashid Kamal, another prominent Nazrul exponent of Bangladesh visited India on Government of India sponsorship in September 2011. A Tagore dance drama “Tasher Desh” by Bangladeshi cultural organisation, Shadhona, performed in New Delhi and Shantiniketan in November 2011 under ICCR sponsorship. A 21-member cultural group from the Dhaka University led by the Vice Chancellor of the Dhaka University visited New Delhi, Kolkata and Shantiniketan on the invitation of EAM for performances. A 3-member cultural delegation from Bangladesh comprising of noted Bangladeshi dancers—Mr. Shibli Mohammad, Mrs. Shamim Ara Nipa and Mr. Anisul Islam Hero—visited New Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati on ICCR sponsorship to participate in the 2nd International Dance Festival being organised by ICCR in October 2011. The Lalon Sangeet Queen of Bangladesh, Mrs. Farida Parveen and noted Bangladeshi Flute exponent, Mr. Gazi Abdul Hakim, also visited Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata and Shantiniketan for performances in December 2011. The Bangladesh Rock Music Band—“Bohemian” led by Mr. Shams Quader, participated in the South Asian Band Festival in New Delhi in December 2011. Besides, several cultural artists from Bangladesh visit India on Government of India sponsorships for workshops, theatre presentations etc on a regular basis.
