The Government of India continued with Operation Sahayata , with a third IL-76 aircraft of the Indian Air Force arriving in Dhaka at Zia International Airport at 1430 hrs. on November 24, 2007. Operation Sahayata was launched by the Government of India to provide assistance to people of Bangladesh by providing relief material to enable those affected by Cyclone “Sidr” to recover and resume their normal lives. Under Operation Sahayata relief assistance worth Rs. 3 crores (Tk.5.2 crores) is being provided.

The IL-76 aircraft which reached Bangladesh on November 24 carried relief assistance of 41.07 tonnes. This included 21.2 tonnes of Meals Ready to Eat (MRE) (9920 packets) consisting of rice, suji halwa, dal, chapattis, tea rations, including milk & sugar, hexamine tablets for heating and a small cooker; 5000 portable water purifier weighing 0.5 tonne; 100 tents weighing 11 tonnes; 2250 blankets weighing 6.9 tonnes and 1500 kgs. of medicine of various types such as antibiotics, anti-histamines, syrups, anti-vomiting, anti-diabetic, antacids, pain killers, anti-tetanus medicines and antidote for snake venom. Medical equipment such as thermometers and stethoscopes, as well as dressing is included.
